Religion and Witchcraft Essay

The book â€Å"The Crucible† outlines the era in which Salem, where the plot took place is maneuvered by set of religious practices that must be strictly followed. These days, there is only one basis for righteousness, and allegiances are only between church as the protagonist, or question the church and its people and become looked upon as bad citizens. As such, the ten commandments is the central point wherein the people and the church base their criteria for being right. This fact, was detailed in the book, wherein John Proctor was accused of being not a Christian just because he does not regularly attend Church masses. This showed lack of reasoning from the people, no one attempted or understood how Proctor justified himself from doing so. It is only a case wherein, â€Å"everyone belongs to either God or the Devil. † This quote merely states that when someone does something, it is entirely based on being good or evil, nothing should go halfway between it. This kind situation in this era have pushed the people to discover new ways of interpreting their beliefs or disbeliefs in some cases. The emergence of the idea of witchcraft became a necessary evil that shall offer explanation to the people’s questions. For example, the deaths of Putman’s babies after birth were attributed against the existences of witches. This happened because no one was able to offer any explanation, and thus they retorted towards putting the blame on someone, or something else in order to provide explanations for those occurrences. II. Witchcraft Discovered As narrated in the book, the outbreak of witchcraft’s discovery in the Salem caused massive disturbances amongst the people. The witch hunt and trials that came after the so-called discovery of witches in the town has become a practice that sought for revenge rather than truth. The whole trial became a mockery of the disbeliefs of the people and the fact that no one could explain how things happened around them. â€Å"The witch-hunt was a long overdue opportunity for everyone so inclined to publicly express his guilt and sins, under the cover of accusations against the victims. † (Miller 7) This quotation from the books explains exactly how the trial turned out. As the book expounded, the character Abigail, who was the first to be suspected and who first confessed as having been involved in witchcrafts, was the first to pinpoint â€Å"witches† in the town. Abigail however, used this as a means to punish people who have offended her. She used her â€Å"dark† charm and manipulative ability to lure people into believing her. She has used the town’s fear to her gain and nurtured the growing chaos in the community to preserve her advantage. This misinformation about witchcraft and the religion’s constraints that limited the people to know more about the situation has lead the town to vulnerability. It caused the people more tension and fear and lead to the sufferings of people being accused, and death to those who were not convinced to lie and confess about the accusations. The death of Proctor and Corey is a significant part of the story. It teaches people the value of upholding one’s integrity and principle to save loved ones from further humiliation and injustices. It shows the value of upholding truth even if it meant dying. In this light, as religion has pushed people towards misinformation and disillusionment, people should learn from the story. Innocence and narrow-mindedness has caused detrimental effects not only to one’s self but in the society as a whole. The every-day gender of the room tends to lean toward the male side of the scale, probably because video games and billiards are more of engaging activities for males rather than females. Thus, the course representation has more of a limited focus around the subjects that men tend to study, such as science or math. The gym, however, attracts all walks... The bright spaces complement the vibrant atmosphere and the fluorescent lighting further promotes the upbeat mentality that young people exude when exercising, be it on rowing machines or at indoor soccer matches. Though the places were built to accommodate students participating in activities on the opposite ends of the entertainment spectrum, the bright, well-lit, modern facilities sported by both structures cultivate a positive atmosphere, whether students play Duke Nukem or badminton. Both buildings also offer students a laid-back area to mutually socialize and perhaps meet up with a new friend or convene with a club. Though there is limited seating, the wide range of diversions offered at each facility give students choices that appeal to many senses. Since students arrive at Humber from all different backgrounds, the variety of activities offered by the school is an important factor when considering higher education. The gamesroom at Humber appeals to many students who like the problem-solving aspects of the digital world and utilize video and arcade games as a way to wind down from the stresses of everyday life for just fifty cents. The economy of the country is highly dependent on oil exports and if the local consumption is not substituted with other sustainable energy demands, their economic growth may be adversely affected in future. Water desalination heavily relies on the use of fossil fuel energy and with this rate of increased demand; their ability to export oil and earn revenues will be greatly jeopardized. The increased rate of fossil fuel energy production is not a sign of economic development but a sign of inefficient use of energy. Water uses in Saudi Arabia Saudi Arabia produces 24 million cubic meters of water per day and this represents about a half of the world-desalinated water in the word. Currently the country is building the world largest solar powered desalination facility to supplement the fossil fuel desalination. The country cannot rely on its oil reser ves since they have already used about 70% of their oil natural reserves and therefore are at risk of losing their water supply. The demand of water increases by about 8% of the water reserves and this number is expected to double in the next few yeas meaning the country have to expand their water supply (Energy Industry Report, 2009). Most of the water uses in Saudi Arabia goes to domestic industrial and agricultural use in wheat production but the country is currently reducing their agricultural activities since they prefer importing to producing due to cost effectiveness. Since the country is slowly phasing out wheat production, the paradox is that most of the farmers are turning to fodder crops that require more than ten times the amount of water used to produce wheat. This was the third strain of Ebola recognized and it was called Ebola-Reston (EBOR). These were the first cases of Ebola in the United States. Only a small number were infected, and fortunately, none of them ever developed Ebola hemorrhagic fever (EHF). ... The virus was named this after an outbreak of Ebola in Bundibugyo District, Uganda. The good news is that this strain of the virus was only short-lived. A couple of months after the discovery, it was confirmed by the Uganda Ministry of Health that the epidemic was over. History of education Essay John Gatto is a New York City seventh grade teacher with remarkable accolades. Because of his impressive accolades as a teacher and citizen, his words are not taken lightly. As a result of his spotlight, he has come up with a list of seven lessons that no syllabus will ever include, but Gatto insists that they form the core of our educational curriculum today. While he does not agree with the lessons himself, they are being taught nationwide and he insists â€Å"that schools have traded their educational function for one of social coordination†(Gatto 1). First, Mr. Gatto explains that he teaches confusion. That is, he teaches the idea of un-relating everything and making disconnections or teaching too much all at one time. He states â€Å"educators persist in the idea that it is better to leave school with a tool kit of superficial jargon derived from economics, sociology, math, sociology, and natural science, rather than one genuine enthusiasm†(Gatto 2). Rather than studying one or two genuine passions, students are trained to attempt to learn them all even if they don’t care for the subject. Next, Mr. Gatto teaches the lesson of class position. Rather than attempting to move up or down to an easier or harder class, the student must learn that they are in that class for a reason and they must like that position. Gatto explains that, â€Å"[his] job is to make students like being locked together with children who bear numbers like their own†(1). He claims that he never lies to students outright, but has come to learn that truth and teaching are incompatible. The third lesson taught is indifference. Instead of caring about anything too much, Gatto emphasizes that â€Å"nothing important is ever finished in my class†(Gatto 2). Students are taught that nothing really matters. Students in his class must drop everything they are doing once the bell rings, no matter the importance. Pupils live life on the installment plan and must learn to turn on and off like switches. The fourth and fifth lessons taught are emotional and intellectual dependency. Instead of thinking and acting on their own, students are drilled to believe that what they think and do is up to the teacher. The one in charge must first OK simple tasks like going to the bathroom or speaking in class. In addition, they learn that good people let experts tell them what to do. The sixth lesson is provisional self-esteem or the idea that people â€Å"must be told what they are worth†(2). If not, they will rebel against the system and cause utter chaos. Finally, it is taught that you cannot hide. He asserts that â€Å"students are encouraged to tattle on each other† (Gatto 3). Wherever you go there is a big brother watching you and you are never completely alone. Without it, children would learn unauthorized ways. These seven lessons are being taught to the majority of students across The United States of America. While some teachers, such as John Gatto, do acknowledge the fact that the system is flawed, the vast majority do not. Gatto argues that this national curriculum â€Å"produces physical, moral, and intellectual paralysis† (Gatto 4). Instead of instructing how to use your brain to it’s full potential and think critically, our system ensure that children will never grow up fully human. Here is a list of some of the animation features that it comes with and how they help develop the animation, on the other hand there are some disadvantages with using Flash such as compatibility issues etc. Frames help gain full control over separate animation characteristics with object based animation, which applies tweens directly to the objects. Flash also uses tweens which are used to fill gaps in between two key frames. A key frame is something that will copy one frame and paste the exact same one into another, they also come as a start and end point for the moving in the animation. There are two types of tweens in which one of them is called motion tween and the other one is called shape tween. A motion tween is the thing that fills in the gaps between two keyframes when you are animating a selected object, they can be used to make things like vehicles move but their weakness lies in the fact that you do not have control over the motion as well as you would if the animation was created with individual key frames. One advantage that they do have however is that they could be reused again just like symbols in order to reduce the file size. Shape tween animation is used mainly in flash designs for example it could be used to make circles into squares, blue letters into yellow buttons etc. Any vector object can be changed by the shape tween animation in flash tool. This change can either be in shape or colour depending on the requirements of the flash design. It offers various choices which can be change, such as size, colour, location and so on. Flash designs are mainly used for things such as shapes, colours and appropriate positioning of the object. However there are some disadvantages of using these motions because the user does not have full control over them, the computer may not do it correctly which can result in the animation not looking right when it is being previewed. However some shape tweens can cause problems as well for example if there is a shape and accidentally there is a dot or line drawn in, then it will tween that into being in the shape as well which could mess up the way the shape should look and the way it ought to be moving. One Advantage flash has is that it has the ability to switch between scenes, this is an advantage because it gives the user more room to work with and still have all the functions working, for example one can be designing and on the other scene they could be creating the second part to the animation. This would save more frames for the selected scenes as there are a limited amount of frames. Adobe Flash comes with a lot of creative tools and features which can help the user in creating animations etc. However there is a slight disadvantage in that which is that it can take along time to load if you have a computer which is slow this would be a problem because Flash comes with a lot of content and features and if you have a slow computer then it would take along time to load the software. One of the common and most obvious disadvantages is that you must pay for the full Adobe suite even though you just want to use and work with one application. However other free flash editing programs do not offer the features that Adobe Flash does, there are a few versions of Flash such as CS3 and CS4. The file extensions that these versions use are Fla which stands for Flash and swf which stands for Shockwave Flash. Flash can let the user adjust the positioning of the objects for example if there is a background on layer 1 and a drawing on layer 2 of a car, then the order of the layers will change the positioning of the way the animation was meant to be set out. If layer 1 is above layer 2 then the background will fill the entire page, however if layer 2 is above layer 1 then it will appear above the background and look as the way it should do. It also has an option to move objects from front to back which does not work well because it makes things worse. Flash is very good for publishing animations etc on the Internet, however creating Web Pages, interactive games and videos in Flash CS3 can be a problem for people who are beginners on using the Software because to create these things you need to have a fair amount of knowledge which can make it easy to create and design things in Flash, without that it would be a struggle. Flash uses actionscript code which is a series of commands that can instruct a flash object what to do, it can tell the animation to go to a certain keyframe or scene, control object movement with the arrow keys or anything your specify, most of the advanced features you want to add to a flash document are implemented through actionscript. It has three versions available, actionscript 1.0, 2.0 and the latest 3.0, each are slightly different in there context, 3.0 features some new 3D related code and uses much less text than action-script 2.0 however it can be slightly more complicated and annoying if your familiar with the previous version of the script. When I used Flash I found the different ways of accessing features slightly confusing. However over the course of designing and creating my animation I learned about how to create Key Frames, Shape Tweens, and Motion Tweens. I also learnt how to work on different scenes and add sound to scenes. As I got to know how to do some of this it made me interested in learning about it more. However I found some of it hard for example I found the action-script hard because I didnt understand where to put the text or which text performed which function. But apart from that I enjoyed working in Flash because it offered a lot of features.

Dry dog food accounts for about 60% of total consumer expenditures and eighteen of the 39 brands have large differences in advertising intensity with only one brand had a market share greater than 10%, there were 186 unique brand available to consumers. Because of so many brand choices, minor brands combined into aggregate brand categories. In addition, brand-sizes ignored for three reasons. First, television advertising focuses on brand benefits and does not deal with package size. Second, the package size decision is likely, not a purchase-to-purchase decision. Finally, for the sample households, more than 70% of the dog food purchases were for a package size of five pounds. To reduce the number of alternatives to a manageable size, brands grouped into aggregate categories according to the size of their market share of 5% and brands advertised and not advertised, so the number of alternative comes down to 11. All brands attributes compared to each other as alternative of others. A similar procedure applied to the aluminum foil data. The aluminum foil market (in the test city) was aggregated to consist of three brands or choice alternatives, one major brand, private brands, and generic brands. Only the major brand advertised on television and the results were similar of that dog food. The results are steady with the point of view that increased advertising is associated with increased brand choice and price sensitivity. In light of the effect of advertising on sales, several points noted. Firstly, the purchases vary in buying behavior of households and reflect only short run effects for advertising and the other mix variables. Price sensitivity effects are generally short-lived. In addition, results show that the indirect effects of advertising have an important effect on price sensitivity; usually that the immediate impact of advertising is still low as compared to that of other variables. In turn, the hypothesis is constant with the confirmation that the information conveyed to consumers may not be underpinned the distinct traits and attributes of a brand. Rather, advertising may be increasing consumers brand awareness, strengthen resemblance with other brands, and increasing price competition at the retail level. The interpretation of this means that good advertising that builds market power is difficult to develop and maintain. A positive up bringing will more than likely create a positive outcome, while a negative up bringing is more likely to produce a negative outcome. If a parent is into illegal behavior, the child is likely to follow in those footsteps. In terms of specific deterrence, this comes from people like social workers. Social workers are there to help the children in desperate need. They produce the positive influence that many from broken homes and poverty so desperately need and do not receive at home. With situational crime prevention, I believe this falls on the community as a whole. It is up to the community to make sure that there is safety. If a community is not safe, crime will breed like wild fire. With all the concepts on juvenile crime prevention, I believe that general deterrence is the one that is going to have the most effect. Parents have to determine the right amount of discipline. Too much discipline can cause your child to turn to illegal activity and the same goes for too little discipline. Too many times have we seen that parents want to be friends and not parents. Fix that problem, and you are one step closer to stop juvenile crime.

Leading Marines Essay

As we know leading Marines is the most important part of the Marine Corp. There are eleven leadership principles, and fourteen leadership traits a great leader demonstrates. These traits &principles help you suppress the leaders that came before us. Everyone has their own style of leadership though. Great leaders must embrace the ethos; Respect and follow the foundations. Accept the challenges he or she will face ahead. A Marine lives by his or her ethos. It’s what makes us a different breed. We are bred to better than the rest. Ethos consists of being a rifleman, carrying on traditions, and does what it takes to get the mission accomplished. Henry Hank Elrod demonstrated prime ethos during the Chosin Reservoir. Elrod lead a platoon in heroic defense for fifteen days. His platoon also demonstrated good ethos for showing the willingness to obey, and determined to follow orders. Also they upheld pride and confidence at all times during the rough times. Leading by these ethos isn’t about the rank you wear, but what’s in your heart. Leaders have to set the example by respecting and following the foundations of the Corp. These foundations are unique. It is putting forth the everyday principles we learned in boot camp, living by a higher standard than everybody else. A good leader is always learning, and uses ethical decision making. Leaders must have respect of their followers, or their words are meaningless. Followship is just as important as the leadership, to have followers as leader a Corporal once said it best,† Strive to create discipline in yourself and your Marines. † Marine leaders go through some of the toughest challenges, whether in combat or garrison. These challenges include: Physical, Mental, and Moral. The biggest type of challenge a leader can face is friction between Marines. Keeping everybody happy is virtually impossible, but as a leader you must try. A physical challenge is keeping combat ready and or not letting body get out of standards. â€Å"Guts and pride cannot replace physical fitness. † Mental challenges as a leader is a huge part in developing to even better leader. Making the right mental decisions can keep your Marines out harm’s way. The moral challenge is the one where a leader has to look within to see the answer. Keeping up with moral is defined by little moments that reflect a leader’s standards. In all being a Marine Corps’ leader is the most sought after, and respected job. A great leader keeps up with his or her ethos, foundations, and is up to the challenges. In the end it’s all about the relationship and the bond which cannot be broken. Leaders teach from history. She took pride in being original and was committed to her work. During her time away from corporate America, Fudge traveled to different countries to visit and embark on some new experiences. People with this personality trait enjoy traveling to different countries, seeking new experiences through travel. Ann Fudge’s success was based on her ability to be strategic and being a big picture thinker; this denotes her high level of openness to experience. Ann Fudge had a great ability to get along well with others. From the case, it points out that Ann Fudge was equally comfortable with consumers at the ballpark, factory workers on a production line, and executives in the bored room. Ann fudge was approachable and easy to get a long with; she demonstrated this by being a charismatic leader who simply listened. These personality traits demonstrated agreeableness, which concerns how one gets a long with, as opposed to gets ahead of others. Fudge also demonstrated neuroticism, which deals with how people react to stress, change, failure, or personal criticism. People with these personality traits remain calm in pressure situations, and is able to handle personal criticism well. This was demonstrated when Fudge’s boss expressed how she was very comfortable with herself and she is not pretending to be some she’s not. Having this trait indicates that she can handle any constructive criticism and not take it personal. 2.Consider The Components of creative intelligence from Table Identify the key components that have affected Ann Fudge’s success. 3.Ann Fudge decided to take a sabbatical to focus on her personal life.  Based on her experience, what are the benefits of such a break? What might be the drawbacks? When Ann Fudge took a sabbatical to focus on her life, she was able to accomplish many things. She wanted more out of life than to be defined only by her career. During her break one of the benefits that she was able to experience was traveling. Fudge enjoyed traveling to different countries such as Sardinia and Corsica. She was also able to enjoy different activities such as yoga. Another benefit that she experience while on her leave was becoming an author of a book she wrote called â€Å"The Artist’s Way at Work.† In my opinion, there were no drawbacks. She took the time to redefine herself as a person. When she came back she was more successful than ever. Fudge took the job at Y&R and worked hard to put the company back on top, and her hard work paid off at the end.

Oliver Stone’s Alexander and it’s Accuracy in portraying Alexander the Great Essay

The 2004 film Alexander, directed by Oliver Stone, depicts the life of Alexander the Great. This essay will discuss the accuracy of Oliver Stone’s artistic vision in this depiction of Alexander’s life and achievements. The discussion will focus on: Alexander’s 7 year campaign, particularly its battles; his relationship with others, including his sexuality within the film; and the legacy Alexander and his armies left on the world. Historically, there are many omissions within Oliver Stone’s Alexander, however, the majority of these are accounted for through Stone’s artistic vision. Many minor campaigns during the 7 year period were completely left out, and only two battles were shown throughout the movie. Within these two battles, many major components of other battles were in some way conflated so as to equate to having experienced those battles as well, since if Stone were to include every battle, not only would the film be far longer than its current form, but it would also have required a much larger budget. This absence of battles is the major inaccuracy in Stone’s Alexander. Whilst Stone only conveys two battles in the movie, history conveys that Alexander participated in a vast quantity of battles, pitched battles as well as sieges, throughout the 7 year march. Stone choice in depicting only these two battles of the many others was through his aim to convey the key points of Alexanders major campaigns in a condensed form as possible. Whilst the battles themselves were inaccurate, many of these inaccuracies were choices of Stone’s. The main inaccuracy for the the Battle of Gaugemela, the first battle depicted in Alexander, is the Persian army itself. Alexander shows them as a disorganised rabble, when, historically, the Persians would have been exceedingly well organised. Members of the Persian army would have had uniforms, rather than the variable clothing they wore, and musicians would play so that the army would march in rank. Conversely, many of the events before, during and after the battle were accurate. For example, before the battle, the night before in the tent where Alexander converses with his generals, he is urged to make a night attack and steal a victory: Alexander, if we must fight, do so with stealth. Use your numbers well; we should attack tonight when they least expect us†. Alexander refuses. This conversation is accurate in at least it’s meaning, as is recorded by Arrian: â€Å"It is said that Parmenio came to him in his tent, and urged him to make a night attack on the Persians†¦ but the reply which he made to him†¦ was that it would be mean to steal a victory† (Arrian, Book 3, Section 10). The conversation is as such a recorded event, and though Stone changed dialogues, the meaning behind each is the same. The major inaccuracy in the Battle of Hydaspes, the second battle, is that it takes place in a jungled terrain, fighting the people of India. In historical fact, the Battle of Hydaspes occurred on a open plain. Stone is said to have chosen the location of the battle to be in a forest as a contrast to the Battle of Gaugemela, which also occurred on a plain. Arrian records the battle to have taken place near the river Hydaspes, with Alexander making a secret crossing in the night, however Alexander makes no mention of the crossing, or even of the existence of the river. Arrian also mentions that the the forces from both armies were split, but the film shows no evidence of this. A second inaccuracy was the conflict between the leader of the Indian army and Alexander. According to reports by Arrian, Alexander never confronted nor charged the king of the Indians as is shown in the film, but instead treated him with dignity and honour, eventually giving him the rule over a large territory. Nor did Bucephalus die from the major wound as shown in Alexander, but from old age and minor wounds he sustained throughout his life. The film shows Alexander charging the king, and Buchephalus saving his master’s life at the cost of his own. This was most likely done as a method to increase the dramatic effect of the scene, but also as a method of including another major battle in Alexander’s timeline, the siege of Malli. Within the battles depicted in Alexander, Stone directed minor changes in the factuality of battle events. For example, he depicts Alexander being gravely wounded in the Battle of Hydaspes. This grave wounding of Alexander occurred later, at the siege of Malli. This event is combined into the Battle of Hydaspes to portray more of Alexander’s history, and those knowledgeable of it could notice and appreciate this and other acknowledgements of history even though they aren’t accurate. Apart from the battles, there were other events of history or legend in Alexander’s life which are not represented. For example, the Gordian knot. This well known legend of Alexander slicing open the untie-able knot with his sword and its linked prophecy of ruling Asia is not included. This may be because the truth is not known of the event, whether Alexander cut it, pulled apart what it was tied to and then untying it or whether it existed at all, although there is evidence that it existed. Apart from these events not included or merely conflated there are portion of Alexander in which the way Alexander is depicted historically, or not as the case may be. To the points where it was inaccurate, Alexander is scripted throughout his speeches to encourage his men in their campaign to conquer the world. These scripts lead to him being given a purpose behind the campaign, that of a â€Å"brotherhood of man†. Historically, there is no evidence to this. Alexander was known to merely have conquered because he could, â€Å"a brilliant commander traveling an endless path of conquest† (Eugene N. Borza, Movie Commentary: Alexander, page 4). The personality of Alexander is almost completely unknown, and as historians we are unable to characterise what made him the charismatic leader capable of leading his armies on his 7 year march. Another aspect of Alexander’s personality was his relationships with individuals. The film shows intense relationships with his mother and father, as well as childhood friend Hephaistion. Alexander’s relationship with his mother and father both vary throughout the film, but focus mostly on pleasing his mother and either avenging or surpassing his father. During his early life, Alexander is shown very close to his mother, with her urging him on to succeed and whispering propaganda in his ear against his father, while Alexander is taught to be a leader through the actions of his father. Later on, he grows separate from both, however influenced by them tremendously. For example, when Philip dies, Alexander falls into a rage, even though he had fallen out recently with his father in a drink influenced conflict, and it embitters him against his mother, this bitterness continuing into the film. Further, in developing the relationship with Hephaistion, Stone also spends a lot of time enforcing the point that Alexander is bi-sexual, through the homoerotic subtext, though this was not limited to Hephaistion but incorporated others within the film. Whilst this may have been the case in history, as in Ancient Greece sexuality was merely a matter of course, and you were either sexual or you weren’t, without vastly distinguishing between the genders, Stone pushes the limits of this concept in order to outline a known part of Alexanders life. It is known that Alexander had at least two male physical relationships, and this may have pushed Stone into depicting the sexuality of Alexander, though in contrast to the homosexual relationships, Alexander’s relationship with his first wife Roxanne was inaccurate and over-zealous. Roxanne, his first wife, is historically known as a devoted wife and mother, rather than as the character displayed in Alexander (Eugene N. Borza, Movie Commentary: Alexander, page 3). In all, Oliver Stone’s depiction of Alexander in his film Alexander has both accuracy and inaccuracy. The major inaccuracies was the events, or lack thereof, as Oliver Stone either chose not to or was not able to include them, whilst the main accuracies of the film were the inclusion of key points in Alexander’s life and relationships. Alexander shows some of Alexander and his armies impact on the world, and it is a well researched attempt at conveying the incredible life of Alexander the Great accurately.

Unfortunately, the impacts that electric-powered cars have to offer and all of the benefits that are derived from them are not appropriately communicated to the public. The United States is without question highly dependent on oil that has become a major source of worldwide conflict. With the utilization of the electric-powered car, countries like the United States will be able to achieve independence on imported oil. Reaching this ambition appears to be so close yet so far considering â€Å"a real, permanent solution to deal with the economic pain and strategic vulnerability inflicted on every American as a result of the collective foreign oil addiction† (Huffington Post). Purchasing oil is outrageously expensive, and the United States is already in debt with the Middle East leaving vulnerability to manipulation. The United States should not be dependent on any country, let alone the Middle East, especially not for a resource that has ultimately led to war. Electric cars using renewable energy will sort out this mess once and for all. As President Obama s tates in his speech, â€Å"our economic prosperity should not be beholden to the Middle East, or anywhere else† (Huffington Post). This addiction cannot be easily solved by turning to other countries for drilling but can be resolved by the government urging Americans to be in control of the future energy consumption. This could not be possible without the uprising usage of electric vehicles. â€Å"Using domestically-generated electricity rather than relying on foreign oil, we can achieve energy independence and will no longer need to engage in costly wars in the Middle East to secure energy supply† (Papercut Films). Electric cars will decrease emission of green house gases Every fuel-powered car releases massive amount of dangerous gases, rapidly adding to the buildup toxins in the atmosphere. Specifically, the combinations of Carbon, Nitrogen, and Sulfur Oxides, and Hydrocarbons [question: are these words capitalized?] emitted from the exhaust pipe. Besides solid evid ence, these scientific terms hold no significance, unless one is aware of the everlasting affects these gases have on the environment. In the midst of the car’s fumes merging into the air that people breathe, the destruction of the ozone layer is also intensifying, which in turn increases global warming. Inhaling Carbon Monoxide impairs the flow of oxygen to the brain, lung problems including cancer, birth defects, and ultimately can lead up to damaged
